Change Fest

We were privileged to participate in Changefest 2024, an event that epitomised the theme of Rivers of Change, symbolising the convergence of diverse perspectives and experiences to foster powerful community-led transformations. Much like the merging rivers that inspire its theme, Changefest24 united individuals from various backgrounds to consider how we collectively forge more equitable societies and systems.

Taking place against the picturesque backdrop of Latji Latji Country in Mildura, Changefest24 provided a platform for immersive cultural experiences, site visits, and local arts and cultural showcases, all set against the serene banks of the iconic Murray River. Hosted by the local community in collaboration with Hands Up Mallee, Connected Beginnings Mildura, and Collaboration for Impact, Changefest24 embodied the spirit of collective action and collaboration.

As part of our involvement in Changefest, our Executive Director, Stedman Watts, joined Catherine Threlfall from Sunraysia Arts and Learning to present at the Powerhouse for Stories from the Mallee. Together, we shared insights into our crucial initiatives supporting young artists in the region and the collective journey of growth and learning we embarked on. We were particularly delighted to discuss aspects of Arts Mildura's songwriting program, warrungga pirka - sing your own song, which we conducted in collaboration with Hip Hop artist Philly and an exceptional support team.
